Land mafia accused of illegal occupation in land dispute
Land mafia accused of illegal occupation in land dispute: Victims appeal to the government for help Mohali, June 20 ( ): Despite the efforts of the state government to deal with land mafia, illegal occupation of land by some goons is allegedly continuing. One such case has come to light in Banur area.
During a press conference at Mohali Press Club today, the victim Karnail Singh resident Bassi Sekhan, Ward No. 2, Zirakpur-Rajpura Main Road, Banur said that he used to live in a house located at Lal Lakir. He told that this house is in the possession of me and my brother Jasmeet Singh. His family has been living in this house for about 50 years and is running the livelihood of his family by renting a tempo.
He said that Davinder Kumar Puri and Harjot Singh, who claimed to be property dealers, along with Baljinder Kaur, had allegedly tried to grab property worth crores by making fake documents in 2020. Under this, a case of 420 is also registered against Davinder Kumar Puri in Banur police station under FIR number 4, dated 15 January 2025 and this person is out on bail.
He also said that a case of giving fake NOC has already been registered against Davinder Puri. He told with a heavy heart that on our ancestral land, the above Davinder Kumar Puri, along with Harjot Singh (who also has weapons) and his 20-25 goon friends, forcefully demolished our house with a JCB on the 17th and occupied it and opened the way to the main road.
He said that due to the alleged death threats of the above persons, he and his family are forced to move here and there and they are also being intimidated at gunpoint. He said that my family has been pushed illegally but there is no hearing in the government.
Victim Karnail Singh said that the honourable court of Mohali has already given a verdict in our favour against the above mentioned persons on the charge of encroachment on the basis of fake documents, but even after this, due to the holidays in the court and the alleged connivance of the police, the above mentioned persons are occupying our land worth crores.
He said that he also called DGP Punjab, DSP Patiala and 112 regarding the illegal occupation of the house by Davinder Kumar Puri, but there was no hearing. He also said that the Banur police station chief is also pressurising us to compromise with the above-mentioned persons.
Finally, the victims Karnail Singh and Jasmeet Singh have appealed to the Chief Minister of Punjab, DGP Punjab and SSP to get them the possession of the house and take legal action against Davinder Kumar Puri and Harjot Singh etc. who have illegally occupied the house.

When Davinder Kumar Puri and Harjot Singh were contacted over phone regarding the allegations leveled against them, they said that the above allegations are completely false and baseless. Davinder Puri said that this land was sold to them by Karnail Singh’s sister a few years ago in a wrongful manner. After which Karnail Singh had filed a case of 420 against his sister and him and now he is out on bail.
I have nothing to do with the demolition of the remaining part of the house by them. This house has been demolished by Karnail Singh’s brother Jarnail Singh, who has died, and his two sons Gurpreet and Jaspreet, who have only broken the wall of their land.
They have also shown the will of the land made in their name. He said that we have nothing to do with Davinder Puri and these two cases are different, which Karnail Singh has presented in the press by making a story.
