The fifth result of Sardar Hari Singh Memorial School Sector 74 was excellent
All the students of the school have passed in the fifth class board examination of the Punjab School Education Board and have secured more than 75% marks. Mrs. Jagjit Kaur, Chairperson of Sardar Hari Singh Memorial Educational Society (Registered), said that all the students are from families living below the poverty line, who have migrated from Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Nepal. These martyrs Udham Singh live in Salam Colony, where electricity and water facilities are also available with great difficulty. Still these children have passed with good marks. “Bhavna” a gifted girl from a downtrodden family who works in Souchalia has come first in the school with 84% marks. This excellent result is due to the hard work of the school management committee, principal, teachers and staff.
Because these children are immigrants and their mother tongue is Maithali, Hindi and Nepali, it is difficult for them to study in Punjabi medium even though they learn Punjabi as their first language, therefore Mathematics, Social Studies are also taught in English medium so that if If they go to Punjab or any other province to study then English medium will prove more helpful to them, especially after 10th standard. Mrs. Jagjit Kaur Kahlon and Principal Balbir Kaur awarded trophies to the first, second, third and fourth graders in the school.
