27th Investiture Ceremony of the Newly Elected Mohali Press Club Team Concludes

Press Plays a Crucial Role in Raising the Voice of the Downtrodden: Chairman Ranjit Pal Singh

S. Ranjit Pal Singh, Chairman of the Punjab State Traders Commission, attended the investiture ceremony of the Mohali Press Club today and congratulated the club’s new team.

Speaking as the chief guest at the 27th ‘Investiture Ceremony’ organized by the Mohali Press Club at Pracheen Kala Kendra, Sector-71, Chairman S. Ranjit Pal Singh stated that the press is the fourth pillar of democracy and plays a vital role in raising the voice of the downtrodden. The media brings events occurring in society to the public’s attention, making its responsibility immense; therefore, having a dedicated space for the Press Club in Mohali to connect with the people is essential. He assured that he would convey the club’s concerns to the government. He added that the media’s contribution to society cannot be overlooked, as news from the city and the world reaches us through the media.

He congratulated the entire team on the investiture ceremony and pledged all possible support to the club. DPRO Mohali S. Ravinder Singh Makkar and Municipal Corporation Deputy Mayor Harpal Singh Channa were also present on the occasion. In the presence of the governing body, the guests unveiled the club’s souvenir. Earlier, the guests were honored with bouquets and mementos. Harinder Singh Har efficiently performed the role of stage secretary.

Club General Secretary Sukhdev Singh Patwari welcomed Chairman Ranjit Pal Singh, DPRO Ravinder Singh Makkar, Deputy Mayor Harpal Singh Channa, writer Dr. Swaraj Singh Sandhu, and film artist Baninderjit Singh ‘Bunny’ to the ceremony, expressing pride in their participation in the event. He remarked that while Mohali city has made its mark on the global map, it is unfortunate that there is no dedicated building for the Press Club here. He noted that for the past 27 years, the club has been operating out of rented premises using its limited resources, without any government assistance.

On this occasion, the guests welcomed the newly elected governing body of the Mohali Press Club and congratulated them on assuming their new responsibilities. The team includes Gurmeet Singh Shahi (President), Sukhdev Singh Patwari (General Secretary), Manjit Singh Chana (Senior Vice President), Neelam Thakur and Vijay Pal (Vice Presidents), Rajiv Taneja (Treasurer), Vijay Kumar (Organizing Secretary), and Dr. Ravinder Kaur and Sandeep Bindra (Joint Secretaries).
