700 vacant posts of principals of the lecturer quota should be filled by promotion

Today, a meeting of the Government School Lecturers Union, Punjab was held under the chairmanship of the State President Mr. Sanjeev Kumar in which the district presidents, general secretaries and especially the general secretary of the Gazetted Educational School Services Association Jalandhar Sukhdev Lal Babbar participated. Various issues related to the lecturer cadre were discussed in this meeting.
Giving information in this regard, Sanjeev Kumar said that in this meeting the issue of the general elections of the Government School Lecturers Union, Punjab was seriously discussed. The present colleagues agreed to hold it in the next few months. He said that he himself has retired as a lecturer, in such a situation he wants to take over the reins of the new team. He said that according to the constitution of the union, these elections should have been held long ago but due to some unavoidable circumstances, there has been a delay.
* Since 2021, many lecturers have retired, many have become principals after getting promotions and along with this, many lecturers have joined the cadre through promotions from the master cadre, whom it is the duty of the union to provide representation and this is also the right of those newly joined comrades.
State President Sanjeev Kumar informed that the schedule of elections will be released in November and the entire democratic process of elections will be completed by February, which will include membership, block level elections, district level elections and formation of the state committee. The comrades present in the meeting unanimously accepted the release of the schedule of elections in November.
He expressed the hope that the entire lecturer class will participate in these elections with enthusiasm and will select new fighting comrades for the betterment of the cadre.
State Secretary General Ravinderpal Singh and S. Bahadur Singh, District Patiala President Mr. Amarjit Singh Walia and District Ropar President Avtar Singh said that 1000 posts of Principal are vacant in Punjab, out of which 700 posts of lecturer quota should be promoted immediately in the interest of school management and students.
Sangrur President S. Jaspal Singh Walia and S. Baljit Singh said that the seniority list of lecturers prepared in 2025 is full of errors and there is no uniformity of rules in it and instead of changing the rules as per the need to benefit their favorites, the seniority list should be reviewed in the light of the decisions of the Honorable Court, policies of the Punjab Government and the rules of the department and the final seniority list should be released.
State Press Secretary Ranbir Singh Sohal and State Treasurer Mr. Ramveer said that
Those that have been closed by the Punjab government should be restored, DA should be linked to the DA system of the Central government as before, the Seventh Pay Commission has been imposed on lecturers recruited after July 2020 in an unreasonable manner, they should also be brought under the ambit of the Sixth Pay Commission. And the arrears of the Sixth Pay Commission should be released.
