Mohali, August 17 (2023): The meeting of the Joint Coordination Committee of major private school organizations of Punjab was held with the Secretary, Board of Education, Mr. Avikesh Gupta. A detailed discussion took place on the demands given by the organizations in the meeting. Secretary Gupta assured the organizations that the demands related to the Board of Education would be accepted soon.
Today, during a press conference at Mohali Press Club, coordination committee leaders Jagatpal Mahajan, Harpal Singh U.K. And Gurmukh Singh said that the organization had called for a bandh on August 21, 2023, in protest against the policy adopted by the board towards private schools. Under this, after the assurance given by the Secretary Education Board in the meeting held today, the call for this bandh has been postponed for the time being.
He further informed that for the students of class 9th and 11th, approval has been given by the secretary board, they will be given regular admission. After this, any school will be recognized for the entire block only. He also said that a portal would be opened to fill the online proforma given to the recognized schools.
The secretary board also assured that the principals and headmasters of private schools will be given full respect in the education board. Teachers and principals of private schools will also be represented in the flying squad and inspection staff in the examinations conducted by the board. Apart from this, he said that apart from taking the certificate fee of Rs 100 from the students, he also asked them to issue migration certificates.
