    Finance Minister gave a grant of Rs 5 lakh to the Press Club and promised to construct a building soon

    Mohali, May 26 ( ): Punjab Finance Minister Mr. Harpal Singh Cheema today met Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Bhagwant Singh Mann while attending the coronation ceremony of Mohali Press Club and announced to find a concrete solution to this.

    In the ‘Coronation Ceremony’ organized by Mohali Press Club at Hotel Zodiac, Phase-5 here today, the Chief Guest Punjab Finance Minister congratulated the newly elected Governing Body Team. Harpal Singh Cheema said that I am very happy that Mohali Press Club conducts elections of its team every year in a democratic and fair manner under the supervision of the Election Commissioner, for which I congratulate President Sukhdev Singh Patwari and the entire team. He said that media is an important part of the society. Whatever happens in the society, the media brings it to the notice of the people, so the responsibility of the media is very big.

    Along with this, speaking on the demand for a permanent place for the club, he said that this step taken by President Sukhdev Singh Patwari and the entire team is very commendable and encouraging and now I will always stand with you for this important task. If there is any obstacle in meeting Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann or any other obstacle, then we will resolve it and will definitely complete the work of building a press club in Mohali within a year. Meanwhile, the Finance Minister also assured financial assistance for the establishment of the club. Meanwhile, he announced a grant of Rs 5 lakh to the Mohali Press Club from his discretionary quota. During this, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema also released the souvenir of the club.

    On this occasion, Chairman of Water Supply and Sanitation Punjab Dr. Sunny Ahluwalia also attended as a special guest. He said that the contribution of media in our society cannot be forgotten, because every news of the city and the world is known through the media. During this, he congratulated the entire team on the coronation and also promised to give all possible help to the club.

    Meanwhile, President Sukhdev Singh Patwari welcomed Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema and Chairman of Water Supply and Sanitation Punjab Dr. Sunny Ahluwalia on their arrival at the coronation ceremony and said that it is a matter of great honour for us that you attended our ceremony. He said that Mohali city has come on the world map, but it is a matter of great regret that there is no building for the Press Club here. He said that the club has been running in a rented house with its limited resources without any government assistance for the last 26 years. We have repeatedly raised this demand before the governments, but no government or politician has given us anything except superficial assurances. President Patwari appealed to the Finance Minister to contribute in solving this long pending issue of providing a suitable place for the Mohali Press Club.

    Earlier, on reaching the ceremony, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema was welcomed by the members of the reception committee Madam Neha Verma, Kulwant Gill, Mangat Saidpur and Nahar Singh Dhaliwal by giving him a bouquet of flowers. During this, the entire governing body honoured Finance Minister Cheema by presenting him a plaque and a medal. Along with this, the Finance Minister also honoured Election Commissioners Harinder Pal Singh Harry and Amardeep Singh Saini, Manager Jagdish Sharda and Head Cook Narinder.

    On this occasion, the newly elected governing body team of Mohali Press Club included Sukhdev Singh Patwari as President, Gurmeet Singh Shahi as General Secretary, Sushil Garcha as Senior Vice President, Manjit Singh Chana and Vijay Pal as Vice Presidents, Rajiv Taneja as Treasurer, Neelam Thakur as Organization Secretary, Dr. Ravinder Kaur and Vijay Kumar as Joint Secretaries, who were congratulated on assuming the new responsibility. On this occasion, a souvenir was also released by Minister Mr. Harpal Singh Cheema.
