Green Diwali Celebration at Sri Guru Harkrishan Sr. Sec. Public School

Green Diwali Celebration at Sri Guru Harkrishan Sr. Sec. Public School, Chandigarh: This Diwali, a joint initiative was undertaken by all the clubs of Sri Guru Harkrishan Sr. Sec. Public School, Sector 40-C, Chandigarh, to sensitize students about celebrating a pollution-free Green Diwali and to promote the message of a cracker-free, safe, and eco-friendly festival.

Under the able guidance of Principal Mrs. Shama Kukkal, the Interact Club, Early Act Club, Eco Club, NSS Unit, Legal Literacy Club, and Art Department came together to organize a series of meaningful activities. These included an Anti-Cracker Rally, a Special Assembly where students took a pledge to celebrate a safe and pollution-free Diwali, and Poster-Making and Colourful Rangoli Competitions that added creativity, color, and cultural value to the celebration.

As part of this initiative, the clubs also organized a Visit to the Senior Citizen Home, Sector 15, Chandigarh, where 26 student volunteers spent time with the elderly residents. Students shared moments of joy through songs, poems, and warm gestures.

Donations of fruits, candles, diyas, and blankets were distributed, spreading the true essence of Diwali—light, love, and compassion.The celebration truly embodied the message of “Green Diwali, Clean Diwali ,” inspiring students to be responsible citizens and to celebrate the festival with care for both people and the planet.
