Mohali, April 11 (2026) Construction Workers and Labor Union (Regd.) ATK Punjab has been mobilizing the construction workers’ beneficiaries for a long time and has been struggling across Punjab to get their rights and get their issues resolved. As part of the first series of struggles, protests were held in front of the Assistant Labor Commissioner’s offices at the district headquarters on February 26, 2026, and when the issues were not resolved, a state-level protest was held in front of the Labor Commissioner, Mohali on March 27.

On this occasion, it was announced by the leaders that if the issues of the construction workers were not resolved immediately by the Labor Department, then the next big action would be to surround the house of the Labor Minister of the Punjab Government. Immediately after this, the Labor Department invited the union leaders to a meeting with the Labor Commissioner, in connection with which a team of union leaders who came from all over Punjab today placed their demands before the Labor Commissioner and, considering the demands of the construction workers legitimate, assured them of immediate resolution and immediately issued orders to their subordinate officers to issue letters immediately to resolve these problems.

Giving information about the meeting, Construction Workers and Labor Union (Regd.) ATK State General Secretary Sukhdev Sharma, ATK Organizing Secretary Comrade Amarjit Asal, Union Leaders Pradeep Cheema, Bharpur Bullapur, Paramjit Dhaba and Khushi Singh said that meaningful discussions were held in the meeting with the Labor Commissioner.

The leaders said that when the Labor Commissioner was asked to take notice of the continuous closure of the site mainly to get the construction workers to work, he immediately ordered the NIC officials to resolve it or face action. In addition to the problems with Form 27, the old age pension, and the ex-gratia scheme, the difficulties faced by educational institutions in filling scholarships for children of construction workers, as well as old portal cases and long-pending cases, were requested to be resolved immediately. The Labor Commissioner assured that action would be taken to resolve these issues without delay.

The union has decided to postpone future action for an indefinite period after receiving assurance that the issues of the construction workers will be resolved.Along with this, the leaders have also warned that if the process of resolving the issues is not started immediately within a few days, then a big action will be announced in the future. On this occasion, among others, state leaders Sona Dhunkian, Daswinder Kaur, Paramjit Singh Moga, Surinder Bhaini and Ravi Dutt were also present.
