A special seminar on the topic of Punjab’s deteriorating soil and polluted water: A special seminar on the topic of ‘Punjab’s deteriorating soil and polluted water’ was organized by Puadhi Manch Mohali today in a special hall built at Gurdwara Sahib in village Chau Majra. On this occasion, Balvir Singh Rajewal, President of Bhartiya Kisan Union Rajewal and prominent leader of Sanyukt Kisan Morcha, former IAS officer Kahan Singh Pannu and Dr. Gurmeet Singh Baidwan, a patron of Puadhi Manch, appeared as the main speakers.

Speaking on the occasion, Kahan Singh Pannu said that the polluted and drying up water of Punjab is not the issue of any political party. Due to which in the last 30-40 years, the water of Punjab has gone deep and a large number of bacteria have been created in the water of Punjab that spread diseases. During the last 30-40 years, the water of ponds which used to be clean has become very dirty.

But since this issue is neither of the people nor of the politicians, no one pays attention to it. He said that if the political parties want and if this becomes a public issue, then all the ponds of Punjab can be filled with clean water again by spending 4 thousand crore rupees. He also discussed the sewage treatment plants being run in the municipal corporations and municipal councils and said that due to their not being maintained properly, they are also engaged in discharging large quantities of polluted water every day.

On this occasion, he also suggested that along with the money given at the time of acquisition of lands, such a reserve amount should be kept by amending the law so that the farmers, laborers and other sections affected by land displacement can earn their livelihood from that amount and they can get a pension of 20% for their entire life.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Balvir Singh Rajewal also touched upon the people’s issues. He said that soon they are going to start a front regarding the depletion of Punjab’s water and the pollution of Punjab’s water, regarding which the process of holding street meetings in various villages has already been started.

For which everyone’s cooperation is needed. He said that Punjab’s water is causing cancer and other diseases today, due to which people’s health is being badly damaged. He said that due to this, our civilization is facing a great threat. He said that soon a big front will be launched in this regard with the cooperation of everyone so that the canal water of Punjab reaches every house and every farm for every drinker.

He also criticized all the political parties and the previous governments for not taking this matter seriously. He expected the people to support him in the front to be launched on the issue of water.
Earlier, Dr. Gurmeet Singh Baidwan presented his views on the deteriorating water and the eroding land and said that the groundwater level is getting deeper every year due to our negligence.

He said that we are wasting a large amount of clean water by extracting it from the ground in the name of rice production without thinking. He said that everyone has their eyes on Mohali and the Puadh area around it so that this land can be snatched from the farmers in some way or the other. He called upon all the residents of Punjab to come forward and make efforts to save this deteriorating land and polluted water. On this occasion, Raju Nahar presented religious songs while Mohini Toor presented two of her songs related to the Puadh area. Which were liked by everyone.

In the village, Chao Majra Gurdwara Management Committee President Tajinder Singh and Sarpanch Randhir Singh and their entire team along with the office bearers of Puadhi Manch honored Balvir Singh Rajewal and Kahan Singh Pannu. On this occasion, besides others, Puadhi Manch’s lender Paramdeep Singh Baidwan, Dr. Karamjit Singh Chilla, Mohini Toor, Gurpreet Singh Niamian, Paramjit Kaur Landran, Hardeep Singh Bathlana and Gurmeet Singh Baidwan, former Sarpanch Yadwinder Singh, Dilbagh Singh, Raghbir Singh, Harpal Singh Sarpanch Bathlana, Malkit Singh Sarpanch Durali, Gurmeet Singh Panch Durali, Karma Puri Sarpanch Gobindgarh, Dr. Balwinder Singh Gobindgarh, Balbir Singh Durali, Wazir Singh former Sarpanch Bathlana, Karamjit Singh former Sarpanch Bathlana, farmer leader Kulwant Singh Chilla, contractor Mohan Singh Bathlana, Gurpreet Singh Sona former Sarpanch Darali, Harkesh Chand Sharma Machhli Kalan, Amarjit Singh Sukhgarh, Hamra Singh Bharatpur, Sher Singh Deri, Jasvir Singh Kurra, Gurpreet Singh Kurri, Narinder Kumar Manauli, Kirpal Singh Siau along with a large number of farmers and Panch Sarpanchs from various villages were present.
