Thousands of employees from Mohali to attend employees and pensioners rally in Sangrur on October 10, SAS Nagar, October 2: A special meeting of office-bearers from the Mohali district unit of the Joint Coordination Committee of employees’ and pensioners’ organizations was held at Panchayat Bhawan, Mohali.
The meeting focused on preparations for the rally scheduled for October 10 in Sangrur—organized under the committee’s leadership to address long-pending demands—and on reviewing the ongoing agitation. Representatives from various departments, along with district-level and several state-level leaders of pensioners’ organizations, attended the meeting.
Participants asserted that they would mobilize thousands of employees and pensioners from the Mohali district and travel to the rally in a massive convoy. The leaders claimed that they would set a new record by organizing an unprecedented gathering in Sangrur and compel the government to accept their demands. They stated that the government had attempted to sabotage the ongoing agitation by announcing an 8% Dearness Allowance (DA) on September 18, even as employee and pensioner organizations were gearing up to fight for various long-pending demands.

In this regard, the Joint Coordination Committee has decided to continue the struggle until the government’s order regarding the 8% DA is rejected, the High Court’s directive is implemented, and other pending demands are accepted. Leaders from various organizations, including Sukhdev Singh Saini, Karam Singh Dhanoa, and a retired inspector, attended the meeting.
Mahinder Singh, Tajinder Singh, Amit Katoch, ND Tiwari, Gurpyar Singh Kotli, Rajinder Kaur, Baljinder Kaur, Charanjit Singh, Harkrishan Singh, Parvinder Pal Singh, Lakhwinder Singh, Balwinder Kumar, Amrik Singh, Pavneet Kumar, Harjit Singh Basota, Subhash Gill, Gurjit Singh, Jasbir Singh, Jagdish Singh, Baljinder Kaur, Gurwinder Singh, and Harish Kumar, among others, were present.
