Local Aam Aadmi Party leaders and workers held a protest outside the residence of former Congress Cabinet Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu in Mohali to protest against the derogatory remarks made by Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly, Pratap Singh Bajwa, about Punjab Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO, and to demand an unconditional public apology.
Addressing the protest, District Planning Committee Chairperson and Aam Aadmi Party District President Prabhjot Kaur said that Bajwa’s remarks hurt the sentiments of a particular community and exposed the anti-Dalit image of the Congress party. She added that using derogatory language against any social or professional class is against democratic norms.

She stated that the party held a peaceful protest regarding this matter and demanded an immediate public apology from Bajwa. During the protest, party leaders and workers symbolically expressed their anger with musical instruments.
Prabhjot Kaur stated that the party would continue to raise its voice democratically until Bajwa apologized or clarified his statement.
She stated that B.R. Ambedkar, the architect of the Constitution, gave the country the message of equality and justice, and that the Constitution provides equal rights to every citizen. It is the responsibility of every political leader to respect every section of society.
Local party leaders and workers were present in large numbers during the protest.
