26th martyrdom day of martyr Captain Vikram Batra: Today, on 7th July 2025, on the occasion of 26th martyrdom day of martyr Captain Vikram Batra, His Excellency Governor of Punjab and Chandigarh Administrator Shri Gulab Chand Kataria ji inaugurated the weekly campaign “Ek Paudha, Shaheed Vikram Batra Ke Naam” started by World Himachali Organization by planting a sapling at Raj Bhavan, Chandigarh. Representatives of various social and environmental organizations like Manavta Foundation (registered), Himachali Mahasabha Sector 56, Himachali Ekta Manch, Jan Kalyan Seva Society and Himachal Welfare Society were present along with other prominent members of World Himachali Organization.
On this occasion, His Excellency Governor Shri Gulab Chand Kataria said that martyr Captain Vikram Batra set an example of indomitable courage and patriotism by sacrificing his life for the country. His martyrdom will always inspire us. The ‘Ek Paudha, Shaheed Vikram Batra Ke Naam’ campaign will not only keep his memory alive, but also underlines our responsibility towards environmental protection. I congratulate World Himachali Organization and other supporting organizations for this noble initiative and call upon everyone to participate in this campaign.
Chairperson of World Himachali Organization Asha Jaswal said that this campaign is a symbol of our gratitude and respect towards martyr Captain Vikram Batra. Remembering his sacrifice, we are taking a small step for environmental protection, which will be beneficial for our society and country in the long run. We will make this campaign more effective by joining hands with other organizations. I appeal to everyone to actively participate in it and plant as many trees as possible.
World Himachali Organization President Amit Rana said that martyr Captain Vikram Batra is the pride of Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh and the entire country. His bravery and the proclamation of ‘Yeh Dil Mange More’ still fills the heart of every Indian with enthusiasm. This campaign of ours is an effort to pay tribute to his sacrifice and spread awareness about the environment. With the cooperation of various organizations, we will make this initiative more extensive so that every plant becomes a symbol of martyr Vikram Batra’s bravery.
Martyr Captain Vikram Batra’s father Mr. GL Batra said that my son Vikram made the supreme sacrifice of his life for the country. I express my heartfelt gratitude to World Himachali Organization, other supporting organizations and His Excellency the Governor for keeping his memory alive in this way. This campaign not only honours Vikram’s martyrdom but also promotes an important cause like environmental protection. I am proud that my son’s name is associated with this noble cause.
On this occasion, tributes were paid to martyr Captain Vikram Batra and his sacrifice was remembered at a function organized at Raj Bhawan. World Himachali Organization and other supporting organizations resolved to take this campaign to a wider level and involve all sections of the society in it.
