1st All India Shabad singing competition on 2 December Mohali 24 November 2022
Gurmati Music Department, Ancient Arts Center and Gurmati Sangeet Society, Chandigarh on 2 December 2022 to keep the younger generation connected, preserved, promoted and broadcast the younger generation with the ancient Kirtan tradition that has been going on from Gurukal. The eleventh All India Shabad singing competition is being organized in Confirm-34, Chandigarh.
Giving information about the press conference at the Mohali Press Club, Pradhan, Gurmati Sangeet Society, Chandigarh and HOD, Gurmati Music Department Ancient Art Center, Chandigarh Dr. Malkit Singh Jandiala and Ashutosh Mahajan Honori Director Project Planning and Development said that in this competition About 300 different groups from schools, colleges, university and religious places from different parts of the US, Canada, Europe (online) and the country are participating.
In which two groups of individual shabad singing are participating junior students aged 10 to 18 years and students of senior group in the age group of 18 years to 24 years. Group is an open category of word singing and only winning students in group word category will be given first prize of Rs 31000, second prize of Rs 21000 and third prize of Rs 11000.
During this, Dr. Malkit Singh Jandiala, HOD Gurmati Music Department and Mr. Sajal Kosar, Secretary, Ancient Art Center, Chandigarh did not clarify that the main condition of this Shabad singing competition is to sing Shabad written in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, “Raga is scheduled but Shabad singing is mandatory.
The main objective of this word singing competition is to protect, promote and broadcast the ancient and unique Kirtan tradition that has been going on since the time of Guru. In this competition, medals and certificates will also be given to the winning students of single word singing as first, second and third prize. During this time, there will be special arrangements for the living of the contestants from other provinces and the anchor of the Guru.
